🎵

Audio — MP3, M4A, AAC, WAV, FLAC

🎬

Video — MP4, MOV, M4V

🖼️

Photos — JPG, PNG (plays as slideshow)

📂

How to import — tap the + button in the app, then choose from your Files app, camera roll, or record directly inside the app.

💡

Tip: create a Toddler Player folder on your phone to keep everything organised before importing.

📶

Link a card

Tap a blank NFC card to a song, video, or playlist in the app. Takes about 10 seconds.

How to do it
1️⃣

Open Toddler Player and find the song, video, or playlist you want to link.

2️⃣

Tap the card icon or the Link button next to your media.

3️⃣

The app will prompt you — hold a blank NFC card flat against the back of your phone.

4️⃣

Wait for the confirmation sound or screen — the card is written. Done!

🎨

Now decorate it — print a picture, laminate it, stick it on a toy. See Section 5 for ideas.

👆

Let them tap

Your toddler taps the card to the phone — playback starts instantly. That's it.

Where to hold the card
🍎

iPhone — hold the card to the top back of the phone. The NFC reader is near the camera.

🤖

Android — hold the card to the middle back. The exact spot varies by model.

⏱️

Hold flat for 1–2 seconds. No need to press hard — just keep it still.

🔧

Not working? Slide the card slowly around the back — the NFC sweet spot is small and varies by phone. The app needs to be open.

NFC cards
Which cards to buy ⭐
👉
Buy NTAG215 stickers or cards.

They're the standard, cheap, and work perfectly with Toddler Player. Same chip used in Amiibo and Yoto cards.

See the difference between NFC types
Type Memory Verdict
NTAG213 ~144 bytes ✅ Works — cheapest option
⭐ NTAG215 ~504 bytes ⭐ Recommended — the safe default
NTAG216 ~888 bytes Overkill for this app

Toddler Player only writes a tiny link to each card, so even NTAG213 has plenty of room. We recommend NTAG215 as the safe default.

🛒 Where to buy: Search "NTAG215 NFC stickers" on Amazon or any electronics shop. Round stickers (~40 cents each) stick to cards, toys, or laminated pictures.
Music & files
Where to get your media
🎵

Buy & transfer

Purchase songs from the iTunes Store or Amazon Music (m4a / mp3), then copy them to your phone. Clean, legal, plays offline forever.

🎙️

Record your own

Use the built-in recorder to capture lullabies, your voice, or anything you want to play from a card.

📁

Your own files

Any audio, video, or photos you already own work perfectly — import directly from your phone.

🎧

Podcasts

Any podcast by RSS feed — stories and songs in your own language. See Section 6 for setup.

💡 Parent tip

Buy the album, copy the m4a files to your phone — legal music that plays offline forever. No subscription, no algorithm, no surprises.

📸

Their favourites

A photo of the character, animal, or person from the song. They'll recognise it instantly.

🌈

Themed sets

Lullabies, learning songs, playtime — colour-code by activity so they know which to pick.

✂️

Laminate them

A quick laminate pouch makes them toddler-proof. Works perfectly with the NFC sticker underneath.
